. . .I am enjoying reading these com...Hi, Swapna!
. . .I am enjoying reading these comments about making wine without yeast. I have never made wine, but I will begin next week, 4th of July weekend. I have ordered Red Star Premier Blanc Champagne Yeast to make black raspberry wine, but I think the raspberries will be gone before the yeast arrives. They will not go to waste, as I am eating them as soon as they are ripe. Haha!
. . .However, it looks like I will have a good harvest from my single Concord grape vine. Do you have a recipe for grape wine made with yeast? (Sorry! I have not had time to read through your blog.) I hope to make grape wine with yeast, and also without yeast according to your recipes.
. . .As a beginner, I have four quart-sized jars to ferment small batches of raspberry wine; but I want to go BIG with the grape wine. My grape vine is almost 30 years old, as are my raspberry patches (black,red,and yellow), two Bartlett pear trees, and a red delicious apple tree.
. . .I have ordered breather lids, a vacuum pump, and lids with water locks to increase my options. I plan to order 1/2-gallon and one-gallon jars, in case my new hobby works out as I hope!
. . .I have made jams,jellies,and fruit sauces in the past; but the process was very time consuming and laborious; plus, now my stove top is out of commission and all I have is a microwave for sterilization. It looks like your recipes do not require sterilization, just very dry and clean equipment.
. . .I have to go order supplies now, and take care of other business; but I will read your’s and any other comments as they are posted; and hopefully have time to respond. I will read your blog ASAP.
. . .Thank you for this blog entry and for all of the people whom commented about their experiences. I have learned so much!
~~~ TedtheRabbi, ordained minister of the Christian Faith. In theory you could drink isopropyl alcohol much safer than ethanol because of the molecules size it would require less of it to reach psychoactive effects, however its banned in a lot of countries and the burn from isopropyl alcohol would be quite severe. Just make sure to never consume methanol alcohol also known as wood alcohol because it has a smaller molecular structure requiring large amounts of it to reach a drunken state which overloads your liver and can cause seizures, blindness, coma, and death.
